BIGFOOT 50x50 Day 4, 2021: “Feeling Normal Again”
With the overall world still dealing with the COVID-19 Pandemic, the world of monster trucks was still pretty well parked at the beginning of 2021. If shows happened at all, even in a place like an open air stadium, guests were under mask wearing and social-distancing policies. BIGFOOT continued to make the best of the situation, continuing to host trucks in the Hot Wheels Ultimate Drive-Thru display. First at Six Flags Over Georgia, and Gillette Stadium in March.
It would take a bit for things to start returning to normal, but eventually the world had to try and move forward. Like on April 9th, when Darron Schnell and BIGFOOT 19 would appear at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Florida for the Monster Truck Nitro Tour. Or on May 1st when Scotty Danuser and BIGFOOT 21 would crush some cars at the annual Magic Dragon Street Meet Nationals in Lakeside, Missouri. On April 23rd, BIGFOOTs 1 and 19 would make their way over to Butler, Indiana for the International Monster Truck Museum & Hall of Fame's Grand Re-Opening at their new location.
On August 25th, BIGFOOT 1 would make its much anticipated return to Gravelrama in Cleves, Ohio after over a 20 year absence for the 50th Anniversary of the event. While not tackling the Big Eliminator, the old girl was there in all her glory for spectators to pour over and take pictures with.
Tours would begin again in earnest in August and December with Darron Schnell and BIGFOOT 19 joining the Toughest Monster Truck Tour in West Plains, Missouri at the Heart of the Ozarks Fairgrounds and the Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live appearing at the Toyota Center featuring Rebecca Schnell in her stateside debut in the new Midwest Madness 18 and A.J. Straatmann in the new, Hot Wheels schemed Race Ace 21.
After being cancelled in 2020, The BIGFOOT Open House made its triumphant return for 2021, and would feature the best in new school and old school monster truck action. Alan Fenstermaker would bring back Earthquake, as would Heath Padgett and BFT, and Jeff Krekeler and High Roller II. BIGFOOT would host BIGFOOTs 1 and 5, Midwest Madness 14, American Flame 18, Race Ace 19, and a fully restored BIGFOOT 8 in all its bricknose, racer striped glory. For another surprise, current owner Chris Gibson would bring the BIGFOOT Ranger home for the first time in nearly 30 years to the excitement of everyone who could and couldn’t make the trip to Pacific.
