BIGFOOT 50x50 Day 24, 2001: Old Friends, New Foes
2001 began with a new sponsor as Universal Studios partnered with Milestone Motorsports to create the T-Wrecks BIGFOOT as promotion for Jurassic Park III. The body made its debut on BIGFOOT 15 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 16 for Milestone’s Extreme Monster Truck Nationals.
Special Events would host a new points series for 2001. And this year fans were in for a special treat. This series would feature BIGFOOT racing once again with Grave Digger and, for the first time, Tom Meents and Goldberg. The first stops at the Springfield and Lima Jamborees would see Dan Runte fall to second place behind Mark Hall and Executioner. A week after, Dan would win the ProMT season opener in Darlington.
In July at Bloomsburg, Sky Hartley would take Chromalusion 10 to two wins over the weekend for the Special Events series. Meanwhile, at Kansas Speedway for ProMT, Dan Runte would take Chromalusion 14 to the points lead, with Eric Tack and Centennial 15 in second. The Special Events points lead would be taken by Mark Hall and Executioner after the Canfield Jamboree, and Team BIGFOOT would not make it to the Indy Jamboree in 2001.
Due to scheduling conflicts and cancellations over the events of September 11, the date for ProMT at Nazareth Speedway was cancelled. In Daytona, Dan and Chromalusion 14 would clinch the 2001 ProMT Championship. Even while losing to Eric Tack and Centennial 15 in the finals.
