BIGFOOT 50x50 Day 32, 1993: “Something Wild This Way Comes”

1993 was a wild year for Team BIGFOOT. Wild in that the focal point of the year primarily rested on BIGFOOT 11, also known as Wildfoot.

With the lineup of Gene Patterson in BIGFOOT 10, Andy Brass in Wildfoot 11, and Colt Cobra borrowing BIGFOOT 8’s chassis in Snake Bite, Team BIGFOOT absolutely obliterated the Penda Points series competition with one of their trucks winning nearly every event. If they weren’t facing each other in the finals, their only real competition came from Fred Shafer and Bear Foot. Andy and Wildfoot would go on to take the 1993 Penda Championship.

While a more sporadic schedule would be run for USHRA and USA Motorsports throughout the year, January would see BIGFOOT 7 return home after wrapping up dates in New Zealand. BIGFOOT 6 would continue its hellacious schedule in the UK, with driver Jim Greco doing 160 performances in 164 days. The BIGFOOT Ranger would end up being the first BIGFOOT truck sold for private use.

Other news would come in the form of MegaMonsters. A project that never saw light featuring BIGFOOT, Snake Bite and “FutureFoot” in American Gladiators-esque combat. RTM Television Production and Bob Chandler worked on concepts, but the series never went into production.

In January, BIGFOOT 12 would be introduced at Super Bowl XXVII at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. A dedicated display truck, 12 would primarily be driven by Ron Bachmann. Continuing his work stateside as BIGFOOT brand ambassador and sponsor activation, Ron and 12 would visit nearly 20 states in 1993 alone.
