BIGFOOT 50x50 Day 19, 2006: “Au revoir”
2006 started off with a bang for Team BIGFOOT's racing endeavors. Dan Runte in Summit 15, Dave Harkey in 14, Rick Long in 11 and Shane Blair in 10 racked up a ton of wins to start 2006. Eric Tack also stepped in after a two and a half year hiatus for a show in Rapid City, South Dakota. In May, former WWE Women's Champion, 2004 Monster Jam Freestyle Co-Champion, and 2005 Monster Jam Racing Champion, Debrah "Madusa" Miceli joined Team BIGFOOT. In June, Eric Meagher would step in for Dave Harkey at a show in Davenport, Iowa.
Sadly, 2006 would be another dry season in terms of points championships. However, that would only remain stateside as Nigel Morris would take BIGFOOT 17 to another European Monster Truck Racing Promotions Championship. Also, Dan Runte would take Summit 15 to a King of the Beach title in Wildwood, New Jersey.
In August, BIGFOOT 4X4 teamed with J&K Motorsports, St. Elizabeth Community Hospital, and Mercy Foundation North for the Crush Out Breast Cancer initiative. BIGFOOT 14 would go on to sport a pink and black campaign inspired body and be driven by Dave Harkey in Red Bluff, California for West Coast Monster Truck Nationals.
In September, a new cartoon called BIGFOOT Presents: Meteor and the Mighty Monster Trucks would debut on Discovery Kids. In it BIGFOOT 1 is cast as the father of Little Tow, a tow truck style mini monster. LT, as he's commonly called in the show, has a best friend named Meteor, a space exploration rover type mini monster. Youngsters watching the show would learn lessons like patience, the importance of telling the truth, and believing in yourself. The following year, the series would be nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Special Class Animated Programs category.
In late 2006, after nearly 22 years in service, it was time for the BIGFOOT Family to say goodbye to BIGFOOT 4. After the sale and donation of BIGFOOTs 2 and 3 in 2000, the sale of 4 marked the last of the leaf spring era FOOT trucks, other than 1 and 5, to leave the shop for good. Post-FOOT, the old warhorse would become Massive Machine and even have Gene Patterson drive the truck at a smaller independent show.
